How To Use Social Media To Plan the Best 4th of July Party
The Fourth of July is not only a historic day, but it is also a day to throw a fun-filled party with amazing fashion, games, food, cocktails, and of course, fireworks.
Planning this party can be quite difficult, as there are a lot of factors to worry about. However, social media is a great source for unique and interesting ideas for your celebration. At Viraltag, I help in creating consistent branding and imagery throughout our social media accounts. While doing this, I found that planning a party can be very similar to developing a social media strategy. It takes time, creativity, and a pinch of pizzazz.
From party ideas on Pinterest, fashion inspiration on Tumblr, and how-to videos on YouTube, there are endless resources to help you throw the best holiday party.
To help get your creative juices flowing, we put this idea to the test. Here is our plan for decorations, food, games, and fashion for our perfect Fourth of July party, all courtesy of social media.
Decorations
The decorations at a party are like the profile images on all your social media accounts. They are the first thing people see when coming to your page. The image gives them an idea of what the rest of your brand has to offer. The same goes for decorations. If the party looks great, your guests are more likely to stay longer and have a better time.
This is where Pinterest can be of the greatest help. Pinterest is great for discovering ideas for DIY projects, home décor, fashion, parties and so much more. More than 14 million articles are pinned each day.
Pinterest users are pinning all sorts of creative and innovative ideas for every holiday. For Fourth of July, I wanted to use decorations that I was able to find right from the house. I found this amazing table made out of handkerchiefs, as well as these water bottles with simple Fourth of July plastic coverings.
Food
Everyone knows you feel better and happier when your stomach is full of delicious food. The food at your party is similar to the content you offer on your website. Your content has to be substantial and interesting, just like your food. After all, nobody wants cranky, hungry guests at their party.
Instagram is a great resource for food ideas. Thousands of food bloggers are posting images of yummy food every second of the day.
I have a sweet tooth so the foods I chose were ones containing the ingredient SUGAR. Here are some of my favorite Fourth of July picks. Pretzels covered with red, white and blue chocolate, cake with an amazing American flag design on the inside, and for my healthier guests…fresh fruit.
Games
The party games set the mood for the entire night. Everyone begins interacting, laughing, and having a great time around the Monopoly board. Adding games to your party is just like uploading silly memes and gifs to your social profiles. It entertains, starts conversations and helps everyone feel more welcomed.
What better way to find fun games for your party, then seeing them in action. YouTube has billions of original videos where you can find awesome ideas for your celebration.
Here’s one game I thought would be great for my Fourth of July party…Ring Toss!
Fashion
The final element of a great party is having the perfect outfit to wear. Your outfit sets the fashion statement for the entire event. This statement is just like the punch lines brands display throughout their social media accounts. For example, Nike’s is “Just do it.”
What statement do you want your outfit to get across? Funky and fun? Elegant and classy? It is totally up to you.
Tumblr is an excellent blogging platform for entertaining memes and gifs, fashion, quotes, and much more. It is a networking site where users truly express themselves. What better place to find fashion inspiration? I was on the look out for an elegant with a pop of color look. Here are a few looks I found.
One thing I love about social media is that it is full of unique and innovative ideas.
Take a look for yourself. See if you can use Tumblr, Pinterest, and YouTube to create a party that’s customized to your personality and is different than any others. Now start planning your Fourth of July party before it’s too late!
Have a wonderful holiday!
